appy birthday, Maglificio Pini! 2017 is marking our 40th birthday, but we never felt so young! The first months of this year have already been full of events we coulnd’t be more proud of.
We have developped some garments that are now part of the exhibition “Disobedient Bodies”, curated by J.W.Anderson at the Hepworth Wakefield, in Yorkshire. The exhibit is not a retrospective on the work of the Irish born designer, but a selection of over 100 examples of art, fashion, ceramics and design related to the human body.
Praised by public and critics, “Disobedient Bodies” includes four exaggerated knits, garments with body and sleeves almost 4 meters long.
We also had the honour of dressing one of the celebrities invited to the Met Gala, that took place in New York on May, 1st. Met Ball is an annual fundraising for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York. This event, one of the most important in fashion worldwide, marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. This year is dedicated to Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons.
Canadian indietronic musician Grimes wore a Proenza Schouler custom made dress and hit the red carpet with Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, designers of the brand.
This is only the beginning! We will throw a party to share our happiness with you during Pitti Filati 81, 28-30 June.
